Two weeks and counting…

Hey guys,

It’s pretty hard to imagine yourself two weeks from now, isn’t it?

In two weeks, the first school night will be here. The first night where you have to be sleep-conscious, and the first night where you can’t go out and run buck wild. (Or, at least you shouldn’t.)

In three weeks, you will have everything in its place. You will be comfortable with your new classes, teachers, and will have found “your table” to sit at during the new extended lunch period. There will be homework, new pressure from friends, the ever-present pressure from parents, and tons of opportunities to get involved and pledge hundreds of hours of your precious spare time to various causes and organizations.

Perhaps you can see where I’m going with this…

Where will God fit in? Where does He fit in your priorities? Is He even a factor?

For me, this was never the case. I was never willing to sacrifice what I wanted or needed to do so that I could spend time with God. It wasn’t until recently when a sudden revelation changed a lot of things in my life. I’d like to share it with you in hopes that it might help you too.

I realized that the reason it was so easy for me to “blow God off” and not make time for Him is because I knew He would ALWAYS be there…that He would wait for me. Isn’t that awesome that He’d be there??!! Still, God needs needs to be the most important thing in our lives, not number one until your best friend calls, but all the time. Think about how it would feel if you were pouring out your soul to God and He said, “Sorry, I have another call…can I get back to you?” And if that’s not bad enough, what if He never got back to you?

One night this summer in adoration, I was praying to God and I looked up at the monstrance. I remember thinking, “God isn’t sitting here thinking, ‘An HOUR with YOU??? Ugh, this is such a chore.’” God WANTS to be with you. He WANTS to hear if you’re mad at Him, happy with Him, or anything that might be on your heart. Go to Him!

I urge you to make the most of the blessing we have to have a chapel in our school. Every morning when there isn’t 7:15 mass, it’s still open. I challenge you to come in a little early to school one day and just sit in that chapel with God. Watch the sun come up with Him, talk to Him, pray to Him. Whatever it is you have to offer, God wants it.

Think about what it’s going to be like for you once you start back to school.

Where will He fit in?

A brand new year approaches…beginning now with our new theme!

Hey guys, it’s Allie.

I was going to try to make this a formal blog where every sentence would start “Young Apostles is pleased to begin….” or something along those lines, but I realized that this isn’t some paper I’m turning in. I want this blog to be just for us, and I want us to begin to support one another in and out of school. Facebook is great, but when you login you are immediately bombarded with notifications and “hotness requests”. ( I still have yet to figure out what in the heck that is…)

I want this to be a place where you come only focused on God and on your fellow Young Apostles members. We are called to lead each other closer to Christ, and I truly believe that this year we will.

Here is a list of some things to check out on the blog:

- The links on the side (especially the music video of our theme)
- The officer bios
- The page containing this year’s goals.

The theme for this year is :

FOREVER I BELIEVE

If you think you’ll have a hard time remembering this, don’t fret. You will hear it plenty this year. : )

I love you guys, and I hope you’re as pumped about this year as I am. It’s going to be really amazing.
