Very insightful post. I think I know how you feel. God's sovereign wisdom is powerfully awesome. I have to step back and say, "Wow!" and God says, "Yup, I had it planned all along."

For Him to be able to simultaneously provide for all our needs, even before we ask him, is always impressive. What is impressive more to me is that he cares about what he's doing. He has a personal interest in my life and your life and some kid over in Vietnam, and some guy down in Australia. He has a plan, and a purpose that all fits into His master plan for the universe, along with the orbit of the planets, an expanding universe, quarks, waterfalls, and sharks. What's more, we get precedence.

It reminds me of the account of creation in Genesis where it lists all these amazing things God created and then says, "He made the stars also" as if that were kind of an "oh by the way" mention. We are the jewels of his creation. Always makes me step back in awe. So we keep our ears pricked up for that still small voice I guess. Good post.

geekdom, gReekdom . . . pretty much synonymous for me. you could always spot the language geeks on campus because they had 3" loose binder rings with vocabulary notecards either hanging off their backpacks or rifling through their hands as they walked wherever they went. it's an obsession really. I still have all my Hebrew cards intact.

now that CODEX SINAITICUS is upon us in less than 3 hours, I am going to have to start reading stuff again. too bad there isn't a need for a greek class somewhere. i could use the practice.

and that reminds me, i need to talk to Father Parham to see if he was made aware of this online resource. even though i'd wager he has some Revelation manuscripts in his office, he might be interested to know about this. AND IF ANYBODY TALKS TO HIM BEFORE ME ABOUT IT I WILL HAVE TO BRING THE PAIN AND LAYETH THE SMACKETH DOWN UPON THEM!

All have been forewarned.

I will interpret that as a typo (gReekdom...it's more flattering), esp. since it's a pretty catholic thing to be interested in; and, I might be able to line up a projector. If we can't get one, I am sure I can get one in the future with a little advance notice. It will be just as critical that we obtain the necessary equipment once football season arrives, y'know.

I guess by Sunday I might know how to work the tool, but I don't have a projector to speak of. If anybody wants to know about the online codex, I'd be happy to discuss it. Otherwise, I'll keep my geekdom to myself.

Ooooh! So, if we line up a projector for the group, you can walk us through this live for the group? We would need an official guide and, who better than a representative from the KOCM to enlighten us. MAYBE this will enlighten us about our group name!!! Something easier than the 'Wannebe Greek Speakers', perhaps, but in the same spirit...

Lately I've been reading things written by Archbishop Fulton Sheen. Sermons, articles, books, etc. He's really a wonderful writer, and I've long been a fan of his preaching and teaching. To be such a tremendous scholar, he writes and speaks as "everyman", yet with a flourish and wit that draw you in. Then, and only then, does he hammer the truth home. If you ever get the chance, give him a watch on EWTN or read some of his material.

Good post, by the way. Welcome to blogging!

Y'know, the coolest part of this whole deal is that the things we discuss Sundays is more tangible for me the rest of the week...I get a lot of drive time, so my thoughts drift back to discussions from our group. Makes me a little more introspective I guess than I was before I had open discussions with other grown-ups about this stuff(hope that's a good thing -- maybe at least a good start).

No idea. I think maybe we're going to listen to the new Judas Priest album and discuss the impact of the writings of Nostradamus on the 21st century suburbanite.
