District Deputy Richard Gonzales

Posted at 4:13 pm under Uncategorized

As of a visit to Richard Gonzales at Wilford Hall early Sunday afternoon he looks good and has a very good attitude. He thanks everyone for prayers stating that he could actually feel the power of prayer. He is hungry since he has been nourished through an IV since surgery on this past Friday. Says he may be allowed to eat jello on Monday. He loves to talk about Knights of Columbus activities. This visitor planned to spend ten minutes with him but extended it to 45. He asks that we continue to pray for him. Sam Szalwinski

Just returned from a visit with Richard Gonzales. He looks good. He is very hungry as he has had no nourishment except intraveinously for several days. He kept repeating how much our prayers are meaning to him. He enjoys company. He has a very positive attitude. I planned to stay only ten minutes but spent about 45 with him. He is a very faithful servant of the Knights of Columbus and we talked a lot about this subject. Of course, he is worried about KC events for which he holds himself responsible. I told him that others will fill in for him. He allowed that several members have said the same thing. Several members have visited him and he really appreciates that. He told me that Freeman was waiting for him after surgery!!

He asks that we continue to pray for him. Please include members of his family in your prayers.

Pray the Rosary for Richard and his family.

This morning I received a phone call from Richard’s wife Annabelle. The news is not good and Richard, as well as Annabelle and their family, need our prayers more than ever. Richard did not have a restful night last night. There seems to be a drainage problem. The doctors have requested another CT-Scan that will be done today to determine exactly what is causing this problem. Once known, a decision will be made as to how to take care of it.

But the bigger problem is that the lab report came back identifying cancer in the Colon area. Annabelle said that the doctors first want to take care of the drainage problem and after that is taken care of they will develop a plan to attack the cancer.

Richard’s personal outlook is positive and he is relying on our prayers. Let’s all continue to pray the rosary for him. Think about doing this before you go to bed. And let Annabelle know that you are doing this. As all of us know, Richard lives and breathes Knights of Columbus. He knows so many of us particularly those located in the city and the Southside. When I visited him last Sunday he told me all kinds of stories. (He could write a book) All of the stories are good and positive.

Let’s Pray the Rosary for Brother Richard

Our Worthy District Deputy Richard Gonzales continues to need our prayers. His wife reports that surgery was necessary to take care of a leagage problem. This occurred yesterday and went well. The leakage caused an infection and now he has two tubes draining the affected area. He remains in ICU and Annabelle says that the doctor expects him to remain there for about a week. As reported previously, when this problem is resolved the doctors will then make a decision as to how to attack the cancer. I asked Annabelle if she needs help and she declined stating that their youngest lives at home and is a big help.

Pray the Rosary for Richard and ask the Lord to bless all concerned especially Richard and his family and care givers.

    Sam
