Okay, I’ve been biting my tongue at this whole thing but it’s time to put pen to paper.
Do you see how Jn 8:31-36 is amazingly accurate here!
So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “(A)If you continue in My word, then you are truly (B)disciples of Mine; and (C)you will know the truth, and (D)the truth will make you free.” They answered Him, “(E)We are Abraham’s descendants and have never yet been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say, ‘You will become free’?” Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, (F)everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. ”(G)The slave does not remain in the house forever; (H)the son does remain forever. ”So if the Son (I)makes you free, you will be free indeed. - Jn 8:31-36 (NASV)
Look at how sin has enslaved Spears. She is locked into this world and being made a mockery of. She wears what she is told to wear by the music label, she drinks and uses drugs because she has been conditioned to do so. And she is sooo lost, she believes it is all okay (or at least pretends to).
I can’t tell you how much I wish she could soberly see herself as God does. A creation in His image and likeness with Dignity! Just a glimpse into God’s plan has such a profound affect.
Teens, being free is a gift. As we pray for those enslaved by the sin of drugs, alcohol and other things, let us also pray in thanksgiving for the gifts of mercy, Grace, and freedom recieved in Jesus Christ.
I’m praying for all of you.
