Catholic Church of the Incarnation Youth Ministry

Well, we had our first B.A.S.I.C. gathering of the semester this past Sunday.  With more than 30 youth present, we had lots of great fun!

Those of you who went to the gathering should tell at least one other person about something we did there.  Tell them we played lots of dodgeball.  Tell them we discussed how we can live the Gospel in our daily lives.  Tell them we invented our own Catholic version of "rock, paper, scissors."  Whatever you tell them, be sure to remind them to come to our next gathering to join in on the fun!

The next gathering will be held on Sunday, February 8 at 4pm in the Holy Family Life Center gym (same time, same place).  Be prepared for even more wacky games and, quite possibly, a skit!   In the mean time, keep praying for each other and for youth ministry at our parish!

This past Sunday marked a first for the middle school youth ministry here at Catholic Church of the Incarnation.  That was the evening that twenty-plus youth, and several more parents, went a-caroling in a local neighborhood.  What a blessing it was to be in the midst of that group!

We sung sacred hymns as well as secular songs, and we surely spread a lot of pre-Christmas cheer!  After the caroling, we made sure to eat plenty of great cookies and drink plenty of delicious hot chocolate.  I'm pretty sure that we have begun a wonderful tradition for years to come.

Please don't forget our next B.A.S.I.C. gathering on Sunday, January 11.  We will gather at 4pm in the parish gymnasium to begin another great semester of ministry.  The entire B.A.S.I.C. team hopes to see a whole bunch of youth at that gathering!

Don't forget that the final B.A.S.I.C. gathering for this semester will be held on this coming Sunday evening.  We will gather at the home of one of our parishioners and visit various homes in the neighborhood to sing Advent carols.  We will conclude the evening with cookies and hot chocolate (warm!).  The event will begin at 4pm and end at 6pm.

Don't forget that there are still plenty of ways for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to be involved in Brothers And Sisters In Christ (our middle school youth ministry)!  We just held our third gathering of the fall semester, and we're already planning for more!

On Friday, November 21, all middle school youth are invited to join us for our November service project followed by an open gym and movie night.  Beginning at 4:30pm, we will make sandwiches that will be delivered to a local soup kitchen.  At 6pm, the movie begins, and their will by games in the gymnasium.  Popcorn and drinks will be provided.

In addition to our fun-filled evening next week, every youth should mark Sunday, December 14 on his/her calendar.  That evening, we will hold our final BASIC gathering of the semester, which will consist of Christmas carols, cookies, and hot chocolate.  It is sure to be a winter-rific good time!

Don't forget!  On Saturday, October 25, all middle school youth and their families are invited to attend a social gathering at Tom's Farm in Rossville, TN.

We will gather at 5pm in the parish parking lot, so that we can get to Tom's Farm by 6pm.  We are still in need of volunteer drivers.  Please let me know if you are willing and able to transport other youth to this event.

The cost of the event is $10 per individual, which includes hot dogs, smores, a camp fire, and a hay ride.  The last day to sign up for the event is Monday, October 20.  Contact the Office of Youth Ministry via phone or email.

Anyone who missed the B.A.S.I.C. gathering last Sunday definitely missed one heck of a party!  There was fierce competition on the dodgeball court, laughter around the ping pong table, and at least one clown costume.  We also watched people stuff their faces with all sorts of food in order to win the eating relay.  Most importantly, we learned some really practical ways to quench our thirst for God!

There are several great opportunities during September for the middle school youth in our parish!  We will have bunches of fun and food together, we'll serve others, and we'll get to know more about Jesus!  Come, join us for all the festivities!

It's that time of year again!  The new youth ministry year is about to be launched!

The annual Youth Ministry Kickoff Party will be held tomorrow night, Wednesday, August 27 at 6:30pm in the Holy Family Life Center Gym.  All youth in 6th thru 12th grades, along with their parents, are welcome and encouraged to attend!

The party will include dinner, a parents' meeting, and a wonderful program presented by our teen leadership team.  This is sure to be a treat for you tummy, your eyes, and your ears!

There is no need to RSVP.  Just bring your family, a smile, and a desire to love Jesus.

All middle school youth from the parish are invited to come and have an awesome time with us!  Dance, hang out with your friends, snack on food from the concession stand, whatever you like to do!  Bring your friends, too!

The fun begins at 7pm, and lasts until 10pm.  Admission is $5.  Music will be provided by TJs Mobile DJs.  Get ready to boogie!
