The ban on gay marriage
November 6th, 2008
So, since this is a dynamic and touchy topic I must place a disclaimer at the top: I in no way judge or condemn any person. What I am going to say here has to do with sinful actions which we as Christians are called to admonish. The person is and always will be a child of God, beloved.
Okay. So CA passed a ban on gay marriage. I am supportive of this measure. The union of two same sex individuals is not a marriage since it fails to meet the basic requirements of a marriage; to procreate.
I was reading today on Bloomberg.com about this ban and would like to share the following excerpts from the article:
“Real people are suffering today because of the decision we made last night,'' Newsom said yesterday in an interview on local CBS affiliate Chanel 5. “I'm going to continue to fight.'' Derek Morales, a 35-year-old San Francisco resident, was so dejected that the measure had passed that he worked from home yesterday. Morales, who is gay and was raised Catholic, said he's always dreamed of having his wedding in a church some day. Now, with the vote banning gay marriage, he said that dream feels further away. “It's something I've wanted since I was little — to get married in a big Catholic cathedral,'' Morales said.
How and when will this man’s dream ever come true? Even if a marriage amendment was passed to allow gay unions someone please tell me how this could ever happen. This man is so deceived that he believes one day the Catholic Church will allow him to get “married” to another man in a Catholic Church! Does anyone else see the irony here?
God ordained the world with certain operating procedures. God MADE us Man and Woman. Don’t let the world try to change what God made. Listen even to the marital statements from the bible or in the marriage ceremony. What GOD has joined let no man destroy. God didn’t join two dudes.
Why would anyone want to get unionized in a Catholic Church? Why? Because it’s a pretty building? Brother Morales, I pray for you. Honestly I do. But my prayer is not that you get to marry another man. My prayer is that you encounter the love that will fill your heart and sustain you in peace.
Second, read this…..
The campaign to amend the constitution drew more than $70 million to the groups involved in the issue. Apple Inc. donated $100,000 to opponents of Proposition 8. The Cupertino, California-based maker of Macintosh computers joined Google Inc. and Hollywood director Steven Spielberg in opposing the measure.
So, all of you who own and Apple computer……. No comment (I confess I covet one too, especially the really neat one at Best Buy).
I use Gmail, which I’ll be changing soon. As well as my usage of Picasa and any other Google based app. I don’t continue to support organizations that blatantly attack the family.
Steven, I’m very disappointed in you. I don’t think ET will be phoning you anytime soon.
Lastly, there was this comment:
“The cultural acceptance of gay marriage is a long-term process,'' said Kolbert of People for the American Way.
Ms Kolbert….it will be a very long-term process because there will should never be a “cultural acceptance” of something that is soo bad for society. But that is okay, you keep working on it. The longer the fight for gay unions the longer we procreators have to out birth you.
Just imagine the history books in a couple of hundred years. Like the plant eaters and meat eaters before us we’ll be called the procreators and the cohabitates.

But Jesus, the sky is falling!!!!
November 5th, 2008
Something amazing happened today. I feel blessed and lucky to have made it through the election. Based on the “prophecy” of many conservative evangelicals and others I thought for sure when I woke up this morning my house would be burned to the ground, my wife left me and my kids adopted by Muslims and raised as terrorists. Oh and I forgot about the overwhelming fear that once elected Obama would declare all white people unemployed and without health care. Thank the Lord for my trusty American Made Harley-Davidson, for it would not let me down.
And yet, as like every other day I have known on this earth, the sun came up. My wife and kids and I greeted the day. I kissed them goodbye and came to my place of work to provide for them. My health care plan is intact. My 401k is in the same place it was before yesterday, the toilet. And the gas in my tank did not randomly explode; rather it nicely fueled my engine so I could get to work.
No, I didn’t vote for Obama. No, I did not stay glued to the T.V. last night watching every single vote come in. Yes, I did watch President elect Obama speak and no, I’m not scared for our country.
Here is the sad and scary thing I learned, or rather reaffirmed, during this election. No matter what people believe, too many are too willing to suspend their faith in order to propagandize political candidates. I have learned that some Bishops, Priests, and Laity (Catholic or not) speak false witness and fail to recognize the wooden beam in their own eyes while screaming about the toothpick in another’s. I have learned that sometimes the popular vote can elect a president, despite our stupid Electoral College system.
But most of all I learned that I don’t understand people who say they believe in the American ideal of freedom and democracy; whine and cry when such machine is in action. At the first sign of defeat the Republican camp was whining about problems in the process. I understand, though I did not see, that McCain supporters booed at his speech.
So I guess the most important lesson for me is this. That no matter the situation, no matter which side I am on, I learned I have the strength to resist spreading false witness. Maybe, no definitely, not perfectly; but with great intent and purpose and with Christ as my guide.
I think it’s time we held both sides accountable for their actions, rather than pointing at the other all of the time. So, I’m sickened by you republican party. I’m sickened by you conservative Pastors who spoke and speak false witness. I’m sickened by you man or woman who suspends the faith you proclaim in order to win an election.
So Christian: Do not whine like a little boy who lost his toy. President Elect Barack Obama will be your and my President. Rather, support him in moving our country forward and in a Christian manner hold him accountable to acting for the good of the people. How sad for those that spend their entire life worried about whom will be President and what will happen to us if so and so is elected.
Why…because if you for one second raise the office of President above the office of God of the Universe…then you are no better than an Egyptian looking to Pharaoh for orders. Break free of this bond. No, I am not telling you to kill a lamb and spread its blood over your door frame, though after this Halloween I’m not sure some did not already handle that for you.
What I am telling you to do is love.
Love as Christ called.
God will not abandon His people. Haven’t you read the book? It’s a great deal at Target…wait, are they still open? ![]()
God bless you and keep you President Elect Barack Obama. May you be guided by the Truth in Jesus Christ to govern equitably according to God’s just and fit law. And may you be protected by the intercession of Our Lady.
Peace ![]()
